A Caring Brother

Where are you Cleta? thought a ebony black wolf, named Cadmus. He was tired as he had traveled a long way looking for a certain wolf. This wolf happened to be Cleta, his "sister." Yes, she wasn't a true-blooded sister but they thought of each other as siblings. He had found her wandering around trying to fend for herself as she was abandoned by her mother. He took care of her and thought of her as a little sister. And now she had disappeared and it was his job as a brother to go and find her.

The trip was tiresome as Cleta always liked to travel by the water's edge so her scent sometimes got lost. But now her scent was stronger here as if she was within this terra. Should he wait for someone to allow him in or should he just go and look for her?

The black wolf tiredly decided to take a rest stop and wait to see if anyone came by and if nobody did he would go of and search for her...where ever that was.

The ebony scount shook his fur. The water of the miniscule stream shook of his pistons, which were all black, save for one white sock. The cool water supplied releif from a long walk. Raniks was still trying to get used to these cliffs, and the effort was elongating itself. He thought mildly of his new rank. this meant he could except members aswell as scouting, which actually was the same thing. So he may aswell learn this place, no? because he would be wandering them alot.

There! His first job. The fume of a male came drifting along his path. Raniks wasn't all that excited, in actuallity, this was simply work. Raniks quickened his pace however. The scout strode foreward, legs flinging out in front of him, waving shiney black fur. The species of Black Wolf wasn't true in him, there must be another mixed in, or the white spot would not have occured. He rounded a small corner as his vision stopped on a like-colored male. He held a vaguely famlure scent, like one he had found previously on the lands. Hmmm.

"Ello, stranger. Name and business please!"

Raniks said, sounding rather friendly. The other brujo seemed of the same disposition of Raniks, so he figured it may be as a conversation between friends. Raniks didn't like acting too much like a stiff, stuck up, i'm-better-then-you-because-I've-been-accepted-and-have-a-rank wolf, because that simply wasn't true. Raniks grinned crookedly at the male as he stood before him.

Cadmus was just about to go when he saw another wolf of the same color come near him, but upon closer examination he noticed he had 1 white paw.

"Hello," he said bowing a bit, "I am Cadmus, I think my sister is here and perhaps she has joined the pack. I would very much like to speak to her and perhaps also join."

His orbs carefully watched the affable brute in front of him waiting for the answer.

Raniks eyed the brute this time, judging his words carefully. Raniks prided himself on being a good judge of character, but he wasn't about to slip up now that he was newer and had a rank. Well A few simple questions should solve this.

"Oh yes? Well, being a wolf that likes to get things over and done with fast, I've got a few questions. Frist of all, may I enquire to the name of your sister? Aswell, if one should decide to let you into the pack, may I ask your preferances, to give me an idea of what'd you'd be good for. Now personally, I can only make you a scout, but a good word wouldn't hurt would it?"

Raniks didn't really mind making light conversation with the wolf, he seemed all well and dandy. Raniks let himself relax in his stance, tail swishing casually. Cadmus obviously meant no harm.

"Oh and yes, manners! I'm called Raniks."

Cadmus knew the brute was probaly smart and wouldn't just let him in like a piece of deer. And he was right.

"Yes, my sister's name is Cleta, her fur is the coloring of dappled brown. And to answer you next question I love running and catching things. Perhaps I like to hunt, but then other times I like nothing better than just to sit around and watch the grass grow," Cad chuckled a bit as he relaxed a little. This brute would do no harm, that he was sure of.

"Nice to meet you Raniks, you can call me Cad if you'd like."

Raniks listened carefully. The brute almost seemed a bit like himself. Nice. He smiled and nodded.

"Well Cad, I'm afraid I don't know your sister. I know little within our pack but the alphess, you see. But you did smell a tad familure, perhaps I crossed her scent at teh borders," Raniks shrugged,"Perhaps then, I should make you a scout. If you go on a hunt or such, Mistress Surai may notice you."

Raniks nodded and looked over the brute once more. He liked him, seemed like a nice wolf. Again, Raniks pride of an excellent judge of character came into play. He smiled warmly and spoke again.

"Yes, I think you should be a scout for the time being. I like you, you should do well."

"Thanks, and you seem like a nice man too. I would love to stay and chat but I need to have a talk with my sister. But anytime you wanna talk just let me know!" said Cad beginning to walk away. " And thanks for the hint! And Have fun scouting!"

And with that Cad left the brute all alone to patrol the bordes. Cad lifted his maw into the air and took a deep breath carefully smelling for that one special scent that belonged to Cleta.
